We are glad to have the opportunity to present you our company and our products. We are located in Parvenets village (Southern Bulgaria) in the famous Rhodope mountains (see map).
This region is known for the vineyard (Mavrud, Pamid, Dimiat), wine (Melnik, Cabernet-sauvignon, Merlot) and mushrooms (wild and cultivated).
Since 1978 Mr.Dimitrov – the MIVA’s chairman - has been growing cultivated mushrooms (agaricusbiporus). Mr. Dimitrov was one of the first to develop a private business in a communist country.
In the beginning he was working with a primitive technology. The compost was prepared manually without heat treatment (pasteurization rooms). At that time his business was a labor intensive industry. Due to technological advances, he adopted new methods for heat treatment of the raw compost in mass and bought a composting machine in order to improve the substrate quality for agaricus bisporus.
In 2002, his son-in-law joined the company and together they have enlarged the farm. Today the farmhouse consists of 8 mushroom growing rooms, 3 fridge rooms, warehouses and a composting area divided into 2 distinct sites.
In 2006, the company applied for the SAPARD program and built three new growing rooms that allow it to increase its production capacity.
In 2010, the company participates in the European program 311 "Diversification to non-agricultural activities" for the purchase of equipment and machinery, which increases its production of mushroom substrate."Miva-Dimitrov s-ie" continues to develop and apply new technologies in mushroom production.
Therefore, in 2012 undertakes a total renovation of 6 of its growing rooms by introducing the system of shelves on the Dutch model. To this end, it is applying to program 121 "Modernization of Farms" to automate processes.
In 2017, the company started growing mushrooms with compost phase 3 and plans to reach a capacity of 800 tons of mushrooms per year.
